Chanel Sales Up 16% in First Half

Chanel’s sales are accelerating after returning to growth last year, Bloomberg reported citing an unnamed source. Beauty sales rose 8 percent.

Chanel’s sales rose by double digits in the first half, beating luxury rivals including LVMH, as wealthy shoppers splurged on the new fashion creations of designer Matthieu Blazy.

Comparable revenue climbed by about 16 percent at Chanel Ltd. in the period, a person familiar with the performance said, declining to be identified because the figures haven’t been made public. Sales at the fashion division — the largest unit — grew by a similar percentage, the person said.

The collections of Blazy, who’s responsible for ready-to-wear, haute couture and accessories, went on sale in March and have proven very popular, despite the challenging geopolitical and consumer climate.

A Chanel representative declined to comment. The privately held company publishes annual results once a year, and in May reported sales grew 1.8 percent to $19.3 billion in 2025.

Revenue in the first half of this year rose in all regions — including China and the Middle East. Growth was led by the US, where sales jumped by more than 25 percent, the person said. Similar trends carried over into July, although the full-year performance will likely be lower than in the first half because the basis of comparison will become more difficult, the person added.

The watches and fine jewellery unit’s sales leapt by about 35 percent in the half, helped by the Coco Crush jewellery line, while watch sales also rose. Revenue at the fragrance and beauty division climbed about 8 percent, the person added.

The performance comes after a mixed earnings season for major luxury brands. Richemont posted quarterly sales growth of 20 percent at constant exchange rates on strong demand for its Cartier jewellery, while LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE saw organic sales at its key fashion and leather goods unit rise 1 percent.

That division includes Christian Dior Couture, which is also working with a new designer, Jonathan Anderson, who introduced his creations around the same time as Blazy. Dior’s performance was slightly above the unit average.

Chanel’s fashion division generates about 60 percent of the luxury group’s revenue, while the watches and fine jewellery unit represents about 15 percent and fragrance and beauty around 25 percent, the person said.

Chanel’s popularity showed up in the quarterly index published by global shopping platform Lyst, which tracks fashion’s hottest brands and products. Chanel held the top position in the latest edition, with two in-demand products: pale green crocodile-skin pumps with black trim, priced at €1,300 ($1,498); and a soft leather maxi-flap bag for €8,250.

Chanel is owned by brothers Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, whose net worth is estimated at about $46 billion each, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
