LONDON, United KingdomNicholas Kirkwood has re-designed his Mount Street store with the aim of partnering with independent creatives for in-store residencies and pop-up shops.

"Nicholas Kirkwood Presents" began with an installation by artist Haroon Mirza during Frieze last month. Next up is New York-based jewellery designer Eva Fehren, whose residency opens today and will run into the new year. It is Fehren’s first foray into the UK retail market.

"We opened the new store last November, which included a full re-design of the space," said Kirkwood, who collaborated with set designer Robert Storey on the Mayfair boutique. "We are looking [at] changing the space every three months."

Kirkwood has already enlisted florist Simone Gooch of Fjura — known for minimalist floral arrangements for the likes of Chanel and Louis Vuitton — for a residency in January to celebrate Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year.

Kirkwood added that he is in conversation with publishers and designers about future in-store partnerships, and that the project has potential to encapsulate ready-to-wear and accessories other than shoes. Although the partnerships will not result in collaborations for Kirkwood’s own label, the prospect is on the cards.

“This is definitely something I am exploring and would love to work towards,” he explained. “I have been quite vocal about expanding my own product line perhaps into accessories or jewellery, so this is definitely a step in that direction.”
