Olivier Creed, the former creative director of the perfumery house Creed has died, the company confirmed via social media on Wednesday. He was 82.
Creed and his father James took over creative leadership of the brand after the death of his grandfather, Henry, in 1949. Under Creed’s stewardship, the house moved into a new era of success, with scents like Aventus, created by Creed, becoming global best-sellers. He is survived by his son Erwin, who was also his co-creative director.
In LinkedIn posts, Creed’s chief executive officer Nathalie Berger-Duquene and Cyril Chapuy, head of L’Oréal Luxe division, which took ownership of the brand from Kering in 2025, mourned his passing, hailing his impact on the world of fine fragrance and commitment to craftsmanship.
