Charlotte Tilbury has been awarded a CBE — Commander of the Order of the British Empire, the highest-ranking award within the order short of a knighthood or damehood — in the King’s Birthday Honours list announced Saturday.
Tilbury, the founder, chairman and chief creative officer of Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, was previously awarded an MBE in 2018. The higher honour of the CBE was awarded in recognition of her services to the beauty and cosmetics industry.
“Today, Charlotte Tilbury is a multibillion-pound British business, and I am proud that it has helped establish our beauty industry as one of the UK’s most dynamic and influential business sectors,” Tilbury said in a statement.
Beauty Banks co-founders Sally Hughes and Jo Jones were the other beauty industry figures recognised, each awarded an MBE for their services to alleviating hygiene poverty. Beauty Banks is a charity that supplies domestic abuse charities, homeless shelters and schools with donations of self-care and hygiene products.
