Lululemon Athletica Inc. is reorganising its fabric development team after product mishaps drew backlash from customers.
As part of the move, Vancouver-based Lululemon said it is laying off seven employees.
“We evolved our Raw Materials Development team structure to bring certain capabilities closer to our vendor partners, reflecting where the work can be most effectively performed and supported,” the company said in a statement, adding that the move is part of rebalancing roles across the world. The change happened in August, before Chief Executive Officer Heidi O’Neill took the helm.
Open roles for raw materials developers are listed in Taipei and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, according to the company website.

Lululemon had to pause online sales of its Get Low collection earlier this year following complaints that its tights were too sheer. About a month later, its heart-patterned leggings drew criticism for the same problem. Quality issues aren’t new for Lululemon. In 2024, the brand stopped selling its Breezethrough leggings after consumers said they created a “whale-tail” effect and in 2013, the company had to pull almost one-fifth of its women’s bottoms from stores over quality concerns.
