Chanel is a French luxury house founded in 1920 by Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel. Chanel opened its first shop in Paris in 1913, quickly developing a dedicated clientele.
In 1983, late designer Karl Lagerfeld took over as artistic director, transforming the company into one of the most profitable and admired luxury brands in the world under his tenure.
Chanel also spans beauty, with the Chanel No. 5 perfume widely regarded as the most successful luxury fragrance ever created.

The brand has more than 650 owned boutiques worldwide. In 2026, Chanel ranked as the most desirable fashion brand to work for, according to BoF’s proprietary survey of global fashion talent.
Chanel is currently hiring for a seamstress in Vancouver, a tailor in Harrods, London, a fashion advisor in Kuala Lumpur and a beauty advisor in Amsterdam.
