Silvana Armani
Head of Womenswear & Board Director, Giorgio Armani
Giorgio Armani's niece and long-time lieutenant is guiding the house's womenswear collections, continuing the discipline of proportions the founder spent five decades refining.

Silvana Armani, the niece of the late Giorgio Armani, is head of women’s design at Giorgio Armani. Alongside head of menswear design Leo Dell’Orco, she acts as creative co-lead steering the aesthetic continuity of the Milan-based luxury house, rooted in fluid, soft tailoring and refined proportions.
Armani began her fashion career in the 1970s working as a fashion model for Italian designers Walter Albini and Krizia, gaining experience on Milan’s early ready-to-wear runways.
The daughter of Giorgio Armani's late brother Sergio Armani, she entered the family fashion house’s design studio in 1980, initially focusing on colour research and swimwear development before moving to ready-to-wear design.
Armani helped shape the Emporio Armani womenswear collections from the line’s inception in the early 1980s. In the decades that followed, she operated as Giorgio Armani’s primary womenswear lieutenant, directing the design studios across both the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani lines. In 2023, she took a seat on the board of directors of Giorgio Armani and is involved with carrying out the house’s succession plan along with Dell’Orco, Roberta Armani and Andrea Camerana.
In September, they named Dario Vitale creative director of the Emporio Armani line as well as Giorgio Armani accessories, bringing in one of the most hotly watched names in fashion in the first creative shakeup since the Italian label’s founding.
