Foday Dumbuya

Founder & Creative Director, Labrum London

The Sierra Leonean-born designer behind Labrum London stitches West African migration history into British tailoring, treating provenance as subject matter.

Foday Dumbuya

Foday Dumbuya is the founder and creative director of Labrum London, a menswear label that integrates West African tailoring and migration narratives into structured British tailoring silhouettes.

Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Dumbuya lived in Cyprus before relocating to London at the age of 12. He initially studied information systems and design at Nottingham Trent University, followed by pattern cutting and menswear design at London College of Fashion. Prior to launching his own label in 2014, he gained industry experience working as a menswear specialist at DKNY and as a product specialist at Nike.

Dumbuya made his London Fashion Week runway debut with his Spring/Summer 2022 collection, titled "The Sound of Movement." His work expanded into professional sports through high-profile design partnerships. Labrum created Sierra Leone’s official Olympic team uniform for the Tokyo 2020 Games, and designed Arsenal FC's 2024/25 away kit and capsule collection in collaboration with Adidas in 2024. The label is currently distributed through international stockists including Selfridges, Browns, Machine-A and Ssense. In 2026, Dumbuya won the BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund, receiving a £100,000 grant alongside a year of dedicated business mentoring and legal support. Dumbuya was presented the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design by King Charles III in 2023 and was selected as a recipient of the BFC Fashion Trust Grant in 2024.
