Founder & Creative Director, Kallmeyer

The New York-based designer has built Kallmeyer into one of the city's most-watched independent womenswear labels, bringing ease to American tailoring and introducing a new uniform for urban creatives.

Daniella Kallmeyer

Daniella Kallmeyer is the founder and creative director of her namesake label Kallmeyer, a womenswear brand offering soft tailoring and minimalist suiting for the urban creative set. Over the past 13 years, she has established it as one of New York’s most-watched independent fashion houses, joining the official New York Fashion Week calendar in 2023.

Born in South Africa and raised in Washington, D.C., Kallmeyer studied at Syracuse University before earning a degree in fashion design from the London College of Fashion. She gained experience working in design roles at Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler and Luca Luca before launching her own label in 2012.

Kallmeyer manufactures most of the collection locally in New York’s Garment District. The brand opened its first permanent flagship on Orchard Street in the Lower East Side in 2019, followed by a second standalone store on Madison Avenue in 2025. Its wholesale presence spans luxury stockists including Net-a-Porter, Moda Operandi and Nordstrom. Her tailored pieces have been worn by Michelle Obama, Katie Holmes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cynthia Erivo and Jennifer Lawrence.

She was named a womenswear finalist for the FGI Rising Star Award in 2016 and won the inaugural Saint Louis Fashion Fund Emerging Designer Award in 2025. She was also nominated for the American Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards.
