Kris Van Assche is relaunching his namesake fashion label with styles for men and women in a move the former Dior and Berluti designer described as “both a return and a beginning.”
After designing objects and sculptures as well as collaborating with other labels, Van Assche said it felt like “the right moment for a profoundly personal expression of fashion again,” in a statement on Monday.
The first collection will be limited in size and make use of deadstock fabrics, with influence from his past work as well as a mix of masculine and feminine codes, he said.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Van Assche started his career at Saint Laurent before moving to Dior in 2000, working with Hedi Slimane in both positions. He launched his own menswear label in 2005 and went on to become creative director of Dior Homme in 2007, followed by Berluti.

Since leaving Berluti in 2021, he has designed objects like vases for Serax and bronze sculptures for Downtown Gallery as well as fashion for Fred Perry and Anta.
“More than a return to fashion, this feels like a return to why I wanted to make clothes in the first place,” said Van Assche, who is known for an urban, minimalistic aesthetic.
