Aeropostale Reports 2Q Loss

NEW YORK, United States — Aeropostale Inc. on Thursday reported a loss of $43.7 million in its fiscal second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had a loss of 55 cents. Losses, adjusted for restructuring gains, came to 56 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for a loss of 56 cents per share.

The teen clothing retailer posted revenue of $326.9 million in the period, beating Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $325.8 million.

For the current quarter ending in November, Aeropostale expects its results to range from a loss of 38 cents per share to a loss of 30 cents per share.

In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $1.25. A year ago, they were trading at $4.16.
