Zhu Chongyun
Founder & Chairwoman, Marisfrolg Fashion Group
The self-made fashion mogul created one of China’s leading womenswear groups before becoming one of the country’s earliest buyers of an Italian heritage brand.

Zhu Chongyun is the founder and chairwoman of Marisfrolg Fashion Group, one of China’s leading domestic womenswear groups. By 2026, the group had grown to a footprint of over 400 stores in more than 100 cities, predominantly in China but also elsewhere in Asia. In 2014, Zhu made international headlines by acquiring historic Italian luxury house Krizia from its founder Mariuccia Mandelli. The deal was an early high-profile acquisition of a heritage Italian fashion house by a Chinese fashion entrepreneur. Following the transaction, Zhu stepped in to lead Krizia as president and creative director, presenting her first collection for the house at Milan Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2015 while pledging to preserve its Italian production heritage and design atelier.
Trained as a mechanical engineer, Zhu launched the group’s namesake label Marisfrolg in Shenzhen in 1993. Over three decades, she built the business into a multi-brand group spanning Marisfrolg, Su, Aum, MDC and her high-end eponymous line Zhuchongyun. By 2016, Forbes estimated Zhu and her family’s net worth at $1.3 billion. She has also made architecture central to the group’s identity through Marisfrolg’s colossal, cutting-edge Shenzhen campus, a biomimetic complex designed by Architecture van Brandenburg, with Zaha Hadid Architects later creating a futuristic showroom within it. By using art, architecture and cultural programming as tools of brand-building while pairing domestic scale with the stewardship of a European heritage house, Zhu has emerged as one of the more distinctive figures in China’s fashion industry.
