Szilveszter Makó
Photographer & Art Director
The Hungarian photographer’s signature shoots constructing handmade worlds inside boxes, with no Photoshop, CGI or AI, have appeared in a slew of fashion publications.

Szilveszter Makó is a photographer who builds physical dioramas and sets by hand, shooting entirely without digital post-production, CGI or artificial intelligence. His theatrical portraits of Rama Duwaji for the January 2026 cover of The Cut gained widespread industry attention, and was followed by editorials in a slew of global fashion publications.
Born in 1992 in Miskolc, Hungary, and raised in Lillafüred, Makó received an early education combining classical languages with intensive arts and crafts. He initially pursued painting before transitioning to photography as a teenager, experimenting with styling and sculptural hairstyles. Working across Europe, North America and Asia, he incorporates childhood memories, folklore and post-communist Hungarian sensibilities into physical craftsmanship.
Makó has shot campaigns and lookbooks for brands including Maison Margiela, Hodakova, Ami Paris, Adidas and Zara, alongside editorials for Vogue Hong Kong, Vogue Philippines and Numéro Paris. In September 2026, Makó debuted his first solo gallery exhibition, Bauhaus Ballet during New York Fashion Week.
