Fred Swaniker

Fred Swaniker is the founder and chief executive of Sand Technologies, a global technology company that builds artificial intelligence-powered applications for companies and governments. Swaniker began his career at McKinsey & Company in Johannesburg, South Africa as a business analyst. After his tenure at McKinsey, Swaniker co-founded Synexa Life Science, a bioanalytical services provider and research firm. In 2004, he founded African Leadership Group, an umbrella organisation that houses ventures and educational institutions including the African Leadership Academy in South Africa, designed to groom the next generation of African entrepreneurs. Swaniker holds degrees from Stanford University and Macalester College.
