Chin-chin Yap produced “Human Flow,” a documentary about the worldwide refugee crisis directed by Chinese artist Ai Weiweiin 2017. It was filmed across 40 refugee hotspots in 23 countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in October and will open in the UK on December 8. Yap previously led the Chinese Contemporary Art department at auction house Phillips. She also writes an art and law column for Hong Kong-based magazine Art Asia Pacific, and has worked with Ai Weiwei on various publications including monograph “Ai Weiwei” (2016) and “Ai Weiwei: Spatial Matters—Art, Architecture and Activism from MIT Press” (2014).
Yap has a BA from Columbia University in New York and a JD from Georgetown Law Center in Washington, D.C.
