Audrey Hu
Editor-in-Chief, Dazed China
The magazine veteran leading Dazed China is shaping local youth culture while giving a new generation of creative talent global visibility.

Audrey Hu is a Shanghai-based fashion director, stylist and editorial executive known for her distinctive aesthetic and an unconventional approach to storytelling. In 2026, Hu was appointed editor-in-chief of Dazed China, relaunched through a partnership between UK-based Dazed Media and Meta Media Group (formerly Modern Media). Published as a quarterly print title alongside dedicated digital platforms, Dazed China documents youth culture, art, film, music and fashion through Hu’s distinctive editorial lens. An earlier edition, launched with Yoho Group in 2019, shuttered in 2021. Hu arrived at Dazed China with substantial editorial credentials, having previously served as fashion director at Vogue China and fashion director at large for W Magazine China.
Throughout her career, Hu has championed emerging Chinese image-makers, models and independent designers. Working alongside collaborators such as photographer Leslie Zhang, makeup artist Valentina Li, and brands Shushu/Tong and Yirantian, Hu has helped shape a contemporary visual language for Chinese fashion that resonates internationally. In addition to her magazine work, she runs Creature, a Shanghai-based creative agency through which she directs fashion campaigns and brand strategy for global luxury houses and domestic fashion labels. Hu says her editorial philosophy reflects the spirit of a generation that "doesn't wait to be represented" but instead builds its own platforms.
