Jody Quon will be the next editor-in-chief of T Magazine, the New York Times’ style publication, the company announced on Monday.

The move is a homecoming of sorts for Quon, who spent a decade at the New York Times before joining New York magazine over 20 years ago. She most recently held the role of creative director after years overseeing the publication’s photography department. Throughout her career she’s won several awards, including a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, a George Polk Award, and multiple National Magazine awards.

Quon is taking over for Hanya Yanagihara, who has been in the top spot at T since 2017; she announced she was stepping down earlier this year. Quon’s appointment also marks a milestone for T: she will be the first visual editor to lead the title.
