Jones Road chief executive Cody Plofker announced on Monday evening his departure from the brand he helmed for a year and a half.

In a statement posted to LinkedIn, Plofker cited a mixture of personal and professional reasons for his departure. “Professionally, I’d rather be building funnels and running ads than managing people and dealing with various BS that comes with being CEO,” he wrote. He will remain a board member and advisor to the brand. A successor has not yet been named.

Plofker, an e-commerce executive and the son of founder Bobbi Brown, joined Jones Road in December 2020 as a director of e-commerce. He then served as chief marketing officer before assuming the CEO role in December 2024.

“Cody’s impact on Jones Road has been immeasurable,” said Brown in a statement. “I’m thrilled he will remain both a close advisor and a board member as Jones Road enters its next phase of growth.”

Founded by Brown in October 2020, Jones Road is a minimalist skincare and makeup label, with bestsellers such as the $38 Miracle Balm. Brown oversees the brand, serving as its chief creative officer.

“We built a bootstrapped, nine figure profitable business,” Plofker wrote, adding that the brand needed a CEO with a “different skillset” than his.
